I’m a video game designer and programmer in San Francisco. I grew up in Montpelier, Vermont and moved out to California in June of 2004 to start a company and a new life.
The company is Unknown Worlds Entertainment, and we have a simple (but not easy) goal: to unite the world through play. We are working on our third game, called Natural Selection 2, an online action/strategy game set in our own sci-fi universe.
In my spare time, I enjoy cooking, country western dancing, working out and enjoying the beauty found everywhere around San Francisco.

As a white person, I realized I had been taught about racism as something that puts others at a disadvantage, but had been taught not to see one of its corollary aspects, white privilege, which puts me at an advantage. — White Privilege: Unpacking the Invisible Knapsack by Peggy McIntosh
My 1 Hour Video Game MBA talk at GDC 2011 -
Here’s the talk description:
“After $40k and 1 to 2 years, a traditional MBA still might not provide you what you need to start and run a successful game company. Try this instead — a 1 hour stimulating and practical summary of over a dozen important books [and game-related concepts] you most need to know about now.”
